I am overcome with excitement!

Alright I’m not that excited but it is pretty good that Spring/ Summer is making a very welcome return to the high street, after months of muggy British weather it’s been sorely missed.

So what does Spring Summer have in store for us? Here is my run down of my favourite trends for Summer:

1. Skinny capris (As seen at Balmain, Isabele Marant, Hermes)

2. Chunky heels (As seen at Mui Mui, Donna Karen, Victor and Rolf)

3. Crochet (As seen at Emilio Pucci, Gucci, D&G and Julien MacDonald)

4. 1970s Glamour(As seen at Emilio Pucci, Derek Lam)

5. Sheer (Erdem, Chloe, Richard Nicoll)

Balmain for Less

Balmain has to be one of the most expensive labels out there, they charge way over any reasonable amount to pay for any sort of clothing, we’re talking over £5,000 for a dress and hundreds of pounds just for t-shirts. Making it only affordable to those with more money than sense (Alex Curran) and those who are gifted it (lucky bitches…)

That’s not to say it’s not very nice, it is, it’s one of my favourite labels, but still, I won’t be buying any anytime soon.

But lucky enough, as Balmain is such a distinctive and desirable label, lots of high street shops do pretty convincing replicas. You’ll see their signature statement shoulders, heavily embellished dresses, high hemlines paired with ankle boots and black and gold colour palette absolutely everywhere.

And that’s where Peacocks come in.

They’re currently selling this dress for £40 (with 20% discount):

Which bares more than a passing resemblance to this one from the Balmain 2010 Fall collection:

Here’s hoping Santa knows how good I’ve been this year…

Set to be the only way to wear your denim in 2010 is the Motorcycle jean. A new take on the skinny jean, these have panelling and added piping detail on the knees to give that “biker chic” look which has been around for a while. Already shown by Balmain in S/S 2009 and the favourite of celebrities including Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, Nikki Hilton, Katie Holmes and Cameron Diaz (all pictured) they are both flattering and edgy.

Dress them up with a biker jacket and some heavy boots like Nikki Hilton, or down like Katie Holmes with a simple jumper and flats. If the £868 price tage on the Balmain pair (and that’s reduced from £1,240, eek!) is a bit out of your budget, Miss Selfridge and Topshop have some more affordable pairs for £38 and £48.

Sequin trend

Yes, sequins appear to be everywhere at the moment. From the catwalks of Balmain and Gucci, on celebrities including Lindsay Lohan wearing a pair of Gryphon gold sequinned shorts and  Amber Le Bon modelling a pair of sequinned harem pants for River Island. Jessica Simpson’s wearing a Gucci sequinned jacket on the cover of America’s Glamour magazine, they’re just EVERYWHERE!
