Things have been feeling particularly autumninal recently. The nights are drawing in, the wind has a definite bite to it and my feet are never far from a good thermal sock.

Unless I am very much mistaken, it’s time to whip out the Winter Warmers.

I’m the first to admit I’m a continually cold person, all of the time, cold, which is why the news that faux furs, knits chunkier than a pregnant Mariah Carey and fluffy ear muffs are vogue this year is something I am getting straight on!

The deer stalker is a staple for this season and the options are endless. River Island have a delectable selection of faux fur, knitted, pom poms and those with fluffy bits on. With one of these cuddly beasts on my head, my ears will definately be staying safe from frostbite this year!

My personal favourite is an offering from ASOS, for £25 you can get this adorable hat and never be cold again!

Are you wearing yours yet?

The womenswear trend of adopting a more masculine style of dress has been in style for a while now and the autumn/winter catwalks showed no sign of it slowing down just yet!

D&G showed a more ‘Victorian gentleman’ style of dress while Ralph Lauren and Temperley London went for a sophisticated style featuring bow ties, tuxedo jackets and braces to complete the look.

The trend seems to have slipped down all the way to our footwear, with brogue style shoes and loafers being a massive trends this summer. For winter the chelsea boot seems to be the shoe du jour, with Chanel teaming large, billowing top halves with a streamlined bottom, finished with a leather boot. Jill Sander adopted more of a wedge heel but similarly paired them with a straight silouette on the bottom half.

Asos have a classic interpetation of the Victorian style shoe for £50 at the moment, but if you’re not brave enough to go for all out masculinity a heeled pair, like the Asos acorn leather platform as shown in the bottom left is a far more wearable style.

Will you be wearing a pair of Chelsea boots this Winter?

My best dressed of the week this week is going to Ashley Tisdale at the Miu Miu Presents Lucrecia Martel’s “Muta” event in Beverley Hills.

Ashley wore a cream coloured peter pan colour dress from ASOS, paired with Miu Miu Mary Jane peep toes in a plum colour. I love the way the cream colour of the dress compliments her enviable Californian glow and the shoes give her just enough edge to prevent this look from becoming boring.

Her make up is equally as understated with girlie pink lips, nude eyes, subtle blush and some not OTT lashes; she even finishes it off with nude nails with a statement ring finger. That watch is also beautiful, I need one!

I am very jealous.

I’m not jealous at all!

I also have a sort spot for celebrities wearing high street clothes, especially to a Miu Miu event so bonus points to Tisdale for that!

Following London fashion week last week there is no doubt that the fabric du jour is leather.

Various collections incorporated it heavily in the form of trousers, skirts and jackets including David Koma, Burberry Prorsum, Holly Fulton and Marios Schwab. Celebrities of late have also been wearing it both to events and casually.

See, I told you:

Celebrities in leather

First: Kate Moss attending Alexander McQueen Memorial Service

Second: Whitney Port in NY

Third: Alexa Chung attends Yves Saint Laurent belle D’opium fragrance launch

Fourth: Twilight star Ashley Greene doing promotion in London

Fifth: Emma Stone at VMA awards (I’ve already wikipedia-ed it, she was Jules in Superbad and was in The House Bunny, she looks really different now…)

And on the catwalks:

Leather on the catwalk lfw 2010

First: Burbery Prorsum, there was a helluva lot of leather in this collection

Second: David Koma

Third and Fourth: Marios Schwab

Fifth: Holly Fulton, I love the canary yellow leather she used in this dress with the martini glass design, very different.

I like the skater skirts which were featured in Holly Fulton’s collection, it makes leather look a bit less seedy than a tight pencil skirt would and is more wearable. There’s loads of leather available on the high street at the moment, my favourites being a black Oasis dress and a short faux leather skirt for just £20 from misguided.co.uk, bargain! I’ve created a couple of leather looks below:

In Sex and the City 2 Carrie wears about 4 dresses by Halston Heritage, everyone seems to be talking about the white V-Neck one she wears in the opening scene but I much prefer the pink asymmetric Jersey one she wears whilst in Abu Dhabi which Kesha has also been spotted in.

Inevitably lots of high street version have cropped up which are far more affordable than the Halston one which costs £216 from net-a-porter, which I happen to think isn’t that bad considering it’s in one of the biggest films of the year where everyone’s eyes were on the clothes.

Even so, it’s well out of my budget which is why the Topshop and Lipsy versions are so handy! The Lipsy one is a rather obvious replica which is being promoted as a copy cat version, with a picture of Carrie next to it. Still, the colour’s very summery and it’s only £35. (Also available in black and purple.)

The Topshop one is my personal favourite though and is a more original take on Halston design. It comes in black and white (although white’s out of stock) and I think it would look best teamed with some gold jewellery and shoes.

I’ve created three more looks on polyvore. It’s very addictive!

The first is this pink look:

The shoes I’ve used are from a label called Freya Rose London. They specialise in very high quality, one of a kind couture shoes which use the best fabrics and materials. They do lots of wedding shoes but I like these pink corsage ones.

Pink is extremely in at the moment with lots of celebrities wearing pink hues to the Oscars and Oscar after parties, Golden Globes and the MET ball last week. One of my favourites was Emily Blunt attending the Golden Globes wearing a Dolce and Gabbana gown looking stunning but lots of others like Kirsten Stewart, Kate Bosworth and Eva Longoria.

Clockwise starting top left: Eva Longoria Parker at the Grey Goose Soho House party, New York, Kate Bosworth at the Calvin Klein Collection party, LA wearing Calvin Klein, Charlize Theron at the 2010 Oscars wearing Dior, Michelle Rodriguez at the Oscars 2010 Elton John AIDS Foundation party, Maggie Gyllenhaal at the 2010 Golden Globes wearing Roland Mouret, Emily Blunt at the 2010 Golden Globes wearing Dolce and Gabbana, Jennifer Aniston at the Bounty Hunter premiere, Paris wearing Christian LaCroix couture, Kristen Stewart at The Runaways premiere, LA wearing a Doo.Ri minidress.

Next I created a blue/grey floral look:

I’ve used some chain shoes which are very Lanvin-esque and are very in at the moment. I particularly like the necklace, you can’t really see but it says “Once Upon a Time” and fits in with the kitsch/Alice in Wonderland trend going on at the moment particularly with jewellery.

And finally I made this biker/rocky look:

This is one of my favourites. I love the Topshop Motorcycle jeans, they’ve got all the panelling and zips at the top and side, I think I NEED them,  and the scary looking shoes from Carvela. The top is from Wildfox couture who Cheryl Cole has been spotted wearing a few times as well as people like The Saturdays, the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and a few more, this cute kitten one is my favourite though.
